Go Girl is excited to launch a new focussed one-day event for high school girls called Go Girl, Get real with it being held on Wednesday 21 June at Deakin University Burwood from 9:30am to 3:00pm.

Through this event, girls will attend practical hands-on immersive sessions, gain a greater understanding and appreciation for potential ESTEAM careers, visit our ever-popular tradeshow (think ‘careers fair’) and be part of small group workshops.

The program’s name is to shine a spotlight on providing pragmatic, realistic and relatable stories, perspectives and experiences around careers and opportunities across the ESTEAM spectrum - and why having an ESTEAM background is crucial to girls’ careers and aspirations in the future.

Go Girl - A tech conference for young girls

Go Girl, Go for IT is a fun, free 1-day technology conference for girls in years 5-12 across Australia.

A common perception is that 'IT' means coding. Go Girl challenges that view by showcasing different ESTEAM (Environment, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) careers and alternatives. It aims to excite and engage female school students by introducing them to this world.

The one-day event focuses on inspiring students with fantastic role model speakers, showcasing technology of the future and challenging any preconceptions of what a career in ESTEAM might look like. It opens up the possibilities of following careers in everything from user design to cybersecurity to data science (just to name a few!).

Dozens of hands-on workshops, presentations and discussions provide girls with the right kinds of information to help them discover what a career in ESTEAM could mean for them. Participants will walk away understanding whether they want to pursue a career in ESTEAM.
